Mahatma Education Society’s Pillai HOC Polytechnic, Rasayani strives to foster a sense of caring and commitment as part of its education of students with the hope that they will incorporate community service in their professional and personal lives. Students individually volunteer their time to community outreach programs that respond to the needs of the sick, elderly, disabled, poor, homeless, young and school-aged.
Every year the Mahatma Education Society organizes Community Service Day to reach out to many underprivileged people in our society to bring smile to their faces. This year the Community Service Day was held on 25th January, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Dr. K. M. Vasudevan Pillai Campus, New Panvel. Like every year this year too Pillai HOC Polytechnic, Rasayani actively participated in it. This year the college invited 19 inmates (Age 3 to 15) and 3 caretakers from Shanti Orphanage located at 424, Bethel, Ganesh nagar, Chambharli, New Rees, Taluka – Khalapur, District – Raigad.
In the morning students and staff picked up the inmates and the caretakers from the orphanage. On their arrival at Dr. K. M. Vasudevan Pillai Campus, New Panvel they were provided with sumptuous lunch. Later the staff and students of the college entertained them. Songs and Dance performances by both the students as well as faculty were organized. Also a mimicry show by one of the students tickled their funny bones. In the evening the inmates were provided snacks. In the end every inmate and accompanying caretaker was gifted a jug as a token of love and memorabilia (memory of the event).
